    Why This Mocktail?

As I've started getting older and losing evermore sleep with two kids, I've been cutting back on drinking big time. I still love a glass of whiskey or a beer, but I've been heavily cutting back and I realized, I can't just drink water. I need a drink with some flavor to it!

This non alcoholic Moscow mule is perfect for that because it's extremely low effort but still gives me a very flavorful drink! It takes less than a minute to make with 3 simple ingredients!

    Ingredient Notes and Substitutions

    Ingredients for the drink.
    • Ginger beer. You could substitute a ginger ale, but it will have less spice overall.
    • Seltzer. I prefer to use a flavored seltzer in some simple mocktails, but you could use plain seltzer.
    • Lime. Lime or lemon could work.
    • Additions. You could add a fresh mint leaf for additional flavor.

*Please see the recipe card below for more information on the ingredients.

How to Make a Non Alcoholic Moscow Mule

This is the super simple part. This mocktail requires no equipment except the glass you're making it in.

Step 1: Place ice in a glass. Squeeze the lime over the ice. Pour in the ginger beer and seltzer and serve!

This drink is perfect to serve with Summer dishes like Chimichurri Steak Tacos or a Greek Chicken Burger. A non-alcoholic Moscow Mule is refreshing, crisp, and a great drink to sip on the patio.

    Pro-Tips

    1. When I make mocktails, I like to use a flavored seltzer to give the drink a little more flavor. Without the alcohol, it can feel like the drink is missing something, especially in mocktails with minimal ingredients.
    2. Roll the lime before you cut it open to loosen up the juice and make it easy to squeeze into the drink.

    Recipe FAQs

Is a Moscow Mule non alcoholic?

Not traditionally, but if you remove the vodka, it can be a simple and refreshing mocktail.

What kind of ginger beer do you use?

I like to use Fever Tree but other great ginger beers are Boylan, Bundaberg, Reeds, and Goslings.

What alcohol can I add to this mocktail?

Vodka is the most typical option, but tequila can be a great variation too.
